Fortune in Glasgow for Celtic talks, Nancy director confirms
Marc-Antoine Fortune looks set to be Celtic boss Tony Mowbray's first signing after the player's club confirmed he is in Glasgow for talks.
Celtic appear to be close to securing the signature of Marc-Antoine Fortune after a director at the player’s club AS Nancy confirmed he is in Glasgow for signing talks.
Although no deal has been finalised, the Parkhead club are believed to have settled a £3.8million fee with the French club, with the player looking increasingly likely to be new boss Tony Mowbray’s first signing.
A statement on the Nancy's website reads: "In contact with several British clubs, Marc-Antoine Fortune is currently in Glasgow to visit Celtic."
However the club's Director General, Nicolas Holveck, added: “No decision has yet been taken."
Fortune played for Mowbray during a loan-spell for West Brom last season, scoring five goals in 17 league appearances.
Despite reported interest from English Premiership clubs including Hull and Portsmouth, Celtic appear to be in pole position to get their man.
According to his agent Michael Maneullo, the French striker should make an announcement on his decision by tomorrow.
Meanwhile Holveck also said that Mowbray is interested in signing Landry N'Guemo.

We can't sing about Connolly,
We can't sing about Sands,
Celtic Football Club, is in the wrong hands!
Took the liberty of adding a poll here mate, just to save me making a whole 'nother thread![]()
Proud we march behind the banner, firm we'll stand behind our men
We will have them free to help us, cheer on the Celtic once again
Haven't seen him but if we don't get him will there be any other availble striker who would play with us?
Strong and fast, is what we need. 5 goals in 17 EPL starts for the bottom team isn't bad, it works out at about 11 goals in his first season for a new club in a new country. We need a new striker in pronto though so i just want to know ether way if he is coming or going.
Havnt seen much of him.
3.8 million is it?
He is fast, strong and will score goals in the SPL.
I voted 'yes' although I've not seen much of him.
But the manager has worked with him before and so knows what he's getting and he doesn't seem to be short of offers either.
I'll stick my neck out here and say he'll score between 20-25 goals next season if we get him!!!!
No. Feeling he will be a dud of the Henri Camera type, he doesn't seem the type of player suited to the SPL. Nothing against him and hope he does well if he comes though.
Even if he doesn't score much he will set up a lot of goals, according to Grant at least.
I don't know about this buy because i never seen him play. but if Mowbry thinks he's good enough then he has my full support. He better get stuck into the huns or he'll be gettin a letter from me lol
