Thread: Fox close to Scotland bow

Danny Fox is hoping to be given clearance to make his Scotland debut in next month's friendly in Japan.

The Celtic full-back was born in Cheshire but qualifies for selection through his Scottish grandfather.

Red tape prevented him from being called into the squad for the World Cup double-header against Macedonia and Holland.

But the 23-year-old has set his sights on making his bow in Yokohama on October 10.

He said: "I couldn't have been called up for the games against Macedonia and Holland because all the paperwork hasn't gone through yet.

"To be fair, those are such big games that it might not have been wise for George Burley to have unsettled the squad by bringing new players in anyway.

"The next match after that is in Japan next month and, if I'm still fit and playing for Celtic, I'd love to be selected for that one."

Not far off it, hopefully he can get even better.

I think once he gets more experience and settled at Celtic park, he will only be better for it. Better than the days of Lee Naylor at left back, eh?

you never know it could give naylor the kick up the arse that he needs and we might get the same player we got in his 1st season?

He seems pretty consistent too.

Good news and hopefully the end of seeing guys like Davidson at LB.
