Thread: Samaras : Make me a Celt for life

GEORGIOS Samaras last night told Parkhead chiefs to make him a Celt for life.

The hitman scored his third goal for Greece in the 5-2 weekend win over Latvia.

It was Samaras' first strike in a month since hitting the net in Celtic's 2-1 defeat to Hapoel Tel Aviv.

While admitting it won't stop him laying into his own displays, he's hoping it's a sign of things to come at club level, too. His aim is to tie down a regular starting place at Parkhead - and keep it for the rest of his career.

Samaras said: "It's always nice to score a goal for your country but I am never completely satisfied with my performance.

"My approach is that even after my best game, I will sit and watch it again and try to see what I could have done better.

"It's the same both for Greece and for Celtic.

"Right now, I am very happy with my life in Glasgow.

"The working conditions are perfect for me and I would be happy if I could stay until the end of my career.

"But that also depends on my own performances.

"It's important that I keep on giving my best for the team."

Greece need a win against minnows Luxembourg tomorrow to guarantee their place in the World Cup play-offs. Samaras, though, will miss the match through suspension.

He's shown in glimpses that he can be a fantastic striker. We expect far too much of a young guy who's still developing.

That's respect for the club, and I value that. He can do extremely well at times, we need to achieve that he does it as often as possible.

Sounds like he has some confidence in him now, hopefully this spurs him onto the form he was on before he got injured quite a while ago.

Theres not many players loyal to their clubs these days and ive always liked sammy I just hope he can be more consistent this season.

No, the reason to give him a new contract is because he's a good player who has potential to do even better at the club and so we don't let him go for nothing.

McGeady says he'll stay at the club for life and he's a legend. Samaras says it and he's a cunt.

Despite this being an interview more about desire/commitment than ability, this is how it will be seen.

Nope he turned up at the start of last season when he was on that scoring run.

oh wow!! and how many was that again? he still hasnt shown me shit! and hides to much in games has one of the worst touches going! i will agree at a blast that there is signs he could turn out to be this so called good striker! but do you really beleive this will happen? cos i certaianly dont.
