Default Fox - Money forced deal

Danny Fox believes that financial issues forced Celtic manager Tony Mowbray to sell him to Burnley.

The full-back has moved to Turf Moor as Brian Laws re-shapes the squad he inherited from predecessor Owen Coyle and he could make his debut against West Ham on Saturday.

But Scotland international Fox admits that he could have stayed at Celtic if it were not for the dictating influence of money.

He said of his time at Celtic: "I was called into the Scotland squad so I could not have been doing too bad. I also played in the Champions League, which I enjoyed.

"I think with the way Scottish football is going at the moment, financial reasons and stuff like that, Celtic were maybe offered a lot more money than they paid for me.

    Opportunity
"It was an opportunity I couldn't really turn down myself. Players from all over the world want to come and play in the Premier League.

"My relationship with Tony Mowbray was fine. He is a very honest man. I am grateful for him for taking me to Celtic. I enjoyed playing under him along with Mark Venus and Peter Grant.

"It was a great learning curve playing in front of 60,000 people. It is quite intimidating but makes you a lot stronger mentally as well."

Fox's debut for Scotland ended in the drubbing by Wales, which led to the sacking of George Burley and he hopes for more caps under new boss Craig Levein.

He said: "I hope Craig Levein is interested in me. But I need to concentrate on playing well for Burnley and hopefully I will get the international recognition after that."
Fair play to the lad for being a gentleman about the whole scene of being sold and by not talking down about TM unlike that Killen tramp.

Another page set up by a group calling themselves the "Killowen Young Republicans" promises to "protect the Republican communities from the PSNI, hoods and most of all loyalists." The group's photo album contains numerous images of youths in balaclavas posing with a range of republican flags as well as a handguns and automatic weapons.

Heard Fox on a phone in interview tonight and he said/was told it was all about the money for the club and him personally.

I think for once Mowbray got this one right. He wasn't good enough.

Only thing that worries me mate, is we've got shot of two full timers and replaced them with loans.

I hope this doesn't blow up in our face in the summer.

I was thinking the same with the McDonald one in particular. I think you'll find that we'll be selling Boruc for sure in the summer and McGeady or Brown will go to balance up the books leaving space to bring in another load of Mowbray unknown players. You're right, we've got 4 players on loan we've yet to pay for.
