wtf was that about? i assume mowbray told him to take it.

i think he should be our captain, only one with a set of balls. no drive from MF and aiden needs dropped. hasnt played well since the manky mob game.

SCOTT Brown has been handed the Celtic club captaincy following the departure of Stephen McManus during the January transfer window.

The midfielder will stand in for McManus who is on loan to Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

Brown returned from injury last Tuesday against Kilmarnock and made his first appearance since October, coming on as a substitute for Lee Naylor. And Tony Mowbray believes this new role will be beneficial to the team and to the player.

“Scott Brown is at the stage in his career where the responsibility will be good for him,” the Celtic manager said.

agreed mate our midfield has no agression whatsoever. Ran over by them fucks from Killie - disgraceful

as much as i think he's highly over rated i welcome this. only player who'll get in the oppositions faces. we lack aggression big time.

hopefully he will rise to the occasion. I do think we need him, if only for the aggression which has been sorely missing

    I agree.

I don’t think he is a great footballer but he’s tenacious and determined.

One of my favorite players for us, but he has been dreadful for the majority of his time here. Has the leadership qualities but does not deserve a starting spot so not exactly leading by example.

Same. Not one of my favourites though, I want to like him and believe he can be a quality player but he just plays woeful sometimes. His personality merits the captaincy, certainly not his performances.

For me the captain needs to be undroppable, and brown is far from undroppable.

It,ll be captain Pugwash if Mogga's still here in the summer.

I can see his point though Broony is the only one who has so far proven to have some dig to his game .Big Jos came out with some fighting talk there last week so he might be next in line .

I still cannot believe this decision. The captain of a club should play every game whilst fit and Broony's performances do not merit that. I like him and want him to succeed here but it's not gonna happen, the guy cannae even pull of the easiest of passes ffs. He may have 'dig' but his 'dig' involves running around chasing shadows and needlessly kicking players. He shouldn't even be in the team, never mind be the captain of our club. McManus should never have been given the captaincy and this is also the case with Brown.

Caesar, the Maestro, Lenny etc. Brown's name just does not belong there. Sad times.

There's not a lot of options really FP but Keano is a leader and is the Ireland captain. He may only be a loan signing but would be a better option than Brown imo. I would have rather seen big Jos or the Holy Goalie get it before Brown as well.

I'd give it to Robbie, couldn't give a fuck if it's a loan or not. He's the only one with the talent and personality in our squad right now to merit being Celtic's captain.
