Celtic interim boss Neil Lennon will pester Robbie Keane every day for the rest of the season about staying on beyond the end of his loan spell.
The Tottenham forward has scored 12 goals in 12 games since his January switch to Celtic Park.
"I'm not giving up on him staying," Lennon revealed.
"It will ultimately be Robbie's decision but I will be begging him every day from here on in to stay at the club if he can."
With Keane earning a huge salary, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp recently said that there was no chance that the Irishman would continue in Glasgow.
And ahead of Saturday's Scottish Cup semi-final against Ross County at Hampden, Keane, not for the first time, skirted around the issue, saying: "From day one I've said that I don't want to speak about it until the end of the season."
However, Lennon, who is hoping to land the manager's job on a permanent basis, would love to continue working with Keane next season.
"We need that calibre of player at a club like this, we need a 25-30 goals-a-season player if we can go out and get them," he said.
"He is world class. His pedigree, calibre and his record speaks for itself.
"He's a very intelligent footballer, he has a cool head under pressure and is a good finisher, and he has that touch of charisma that all the good players have.
"He can stand up against anyone in Britain and parts of Europe as well and he's been a huge player for us in the short time he has been here."
Lennon's future will be decided at the end of the campaign and he admits defeat against County would damage his chances of remaining in the dugout beyond the summer.
Asked about the implications of what would be a shock defeat, the former Celtic captain said: "It would diminish my opportunity.
"It won't all hinge on the one game but ultimately I would be disappointed if we didn't go through and I would certainly have a look at myself and ask the questions as to why.
"But I am trying to be as positive as possible and I think we have a decent enough chance of going through.
"It's a huge game for us in terms of our season.
"We are two games away from winning a bit of silverware and winning would give the players an incentive for the rest of the season.
"We are on a hiding to nothing really but that's what it is here most weeks.
"If we win we are expected to win and if we lose it's a disaster.
"But it's a challenge and I enjoy the challenge. I think I have got a good chance (of getting the job).
"But no matter what happens I will view it as a positive experience.
"I am relishing it and whether it goes wrong or doesn't go wrong I will put the experience to good use the next time, wherever that will be."

Would love him to stay.
Embarrasing
Keane should be the one begging us to sign him
I didnt see players like Hartson,Sutton and Larsson ( who where all better than Keane btw) turning it on and off just because they wanted to or the pitch wasnt nice. Keane is not world class like Lennon says tbh, World class = Messi.
I would like him to stay but I wont be down on my knee's begging him.
They come from bonnie Scotland,
But they bow to Englands crown,
They really are a mixed up bunch,
They let their country down,
They're racists,thugs and bigots,
And we all know their name,
They're fans of Glasgow Rangers
And they're known as Scotlands Shame.
Keano also said that they'd all sit down at the end of the season to talk about it... so I guess there is still hope.
The board will not finance it anyway even if he did want to stay.
"When you pull on that jersey you're not just playing for a football club, you're playing for a people and a cause"
God Bless Mr Celtic
Pester someone and hopefully keep a fantastic player at Celtic, or refuse to "beg" and more likely not have him at our club? I know what option appeals more to me. Obviously we would all love to see Keane psyched to stay, but that's just not reality.
Keep at 'im Lenny!
Ultimately, it's down to Robbie Keane, and perhaps Harry Redknapp being quoted as saying he's not going anywhere is the best thing that could happen, but who knows? Nobody other than Robbie Keane, and probably not even him until next month or whatever, who cares? He's banging them in for fun and rounding off a shite season with a bit of gusto and entertainment for all the family, fucking enjoy it and shup up.
P.S. That's to any twat that listens to the press.
"I'm not giving up on him staying," Lennon revealed.
"It will ultimately be Robbie's decision but I will be begging him every day from here on in to stay at the club if he can."
I appreciate what Lennon is doing here, but this is quite pathetic. Bordering with embarrassing actually.
I don't know if he realizes, but at the end of the day it's not Lennon and Robbie who are to have final word on it all. Hopefully Lennon realizes Keane is replacable and despite his guaranteed 25-30 goals per season, we can find replacement or look to strenghen other positions.
We're spent quite a sum from Keane's loan, when you look at the number you'd see it may have well be invested elsewhere. Not saying we shouldn't bring him, I'm delighted seeing him in Hoops, but my point is that emphasis should be put on actively looking for players who may come in summer other than focusing all attention to Robbie Keane.
I agree with what Mick's saying to certain extent but Keane can't really say anything as he is still a Spurs player.
Naturally, I'd love to keep him as we won't sign anyone near as good as him. We never do now, do we?
I Keane hadn't been as good as he has been, then aye i'd say it was embarrassing. But ffs the guy has been a revelation up here and if he were to stay he'd rip this league apart for a good few years to come.
I truly hope him and Lenny will be here next season, but no matter how much Keane is 'begged' to stay i think it's a long shot to say the least.
