CELTIC star Artur Boruc has gone bananas - after getting a rude tattoo of a monkey on his stomach.

The controversial goalkeeper had a chimp showing its backside etched around his belly button last week. And we can reveal the 29-year-old Pole is already making plans to get the cheeky image removed.

The Hoops idol had the image done at Valhalla tattoo studio in Glasgow's Drumchapel.

He walked in with pals who watched in amazment as the millionaire asked for the X-rated ink job.

The Parkhead idol is a close pal of tattoo studio owner Brian Wilson, who also owns Off The Walls studio in Glasgow's Partick.

But the latest body art will make Hoops fans fear the Poland international is out his tree.

The star told his pals that he regretted getting the tattoo 24 hours after having it done.

A source said: "Artur saw the monkey tattoo and decided he wanted it straight away. It was a spur of the moment thing and thought it would be a great laugh.

"No one believed him when he said he wanted a monkey mooning its backside - but he insisted. The next day he regretted it after the novelty wore off.

"He's told pals he's going to get it covered up - it's been an expensive joke. Put it this way, I don't think there'll be any photographs of him with his shirt off for a while."

Boruc - nicknamed the Holy Goalie by Celts fans - caused a storm earlier this year when he got the words "addicted to" tattooed on his neck for his 29th birthday.

It sparked wild speculation about Boruc's private life. Friends of the star said he wanted to keep people guessing what it meant.

Boruc signed for Celtic from Legia Warsaw in 2005 and soon became an icon among the Parkhead support.

Last year he split from his wife Katarzyna and started a relationship with former Polish Idol contestant Sara Mannei.

Earlier this year he splashed out £1.3million on a plush mansion in Bearsden, near Glasgow, for his new love and her young daughter Olivia.

Tattoo studio owner Brian refused to comment yesterday. Boruc was unavailable for comment.
