Turbo-folk music is mixture of Turkish and Greek sound in traditional Serbian folk music. But Serbian sound seems to vanish from domestic music, turbo-folk is taking over. Aforementioned Turkish and Greek music is combined with house/techno/minimal. That + almost naked bird with awful voice + broken glasses + deluded youth = turbo folk.

That's half of dollar right there with accordion, presented like gypsy musician.

Haha, not funky at all!

Sadly, it's most popular music over here. I'm sure you're familiar with folk music (Irish folk for the win!:shamrock, so you know how it sounds. But this is different, it has too much Turkish and Greek influence. It's commercial crap, as awkward as it would sound.

It started becoming popular in 90s due to awful period in those days. It was widely accepted by population and it still goes on. It's worse every year, though.

Shame, we have some awesome music which is just getting in shadow of this turbo-folk crap.

Grew up with Irish folk music but even if I hadn't I'd still appreciate it due to it's storytelling nature of Ireland, the video you posted sounds to me like that god awful europop crap that has no substance! Not really familiar with what you would class as your orginal folk music but I'm sure it's better than what you posted early!

Music ain't the same as it use to be but u guess that's the times we live in!

Don't know about tour of Ireland, but I was at their gig for St. Paddy's day, it was fucking awesome. I highly recommend them if they are in Eire this year. From what I know, they were never in Ireland.
