Thread: Olympique Lyonnais

Started a new game with Lyon. Mainly because I wanted to use Yannis Tafer without having to spunk millions trying to get him. Never played in the French leagues so this is all fairly new territory for me. I do appreciate I have went (argueably) the best club I could, but there is still some good teams in this league with Bordeux, St-Etienne and OM.
Only half way through November in my first season the now. Top of the league, having only sorely lost one game against OM. (only the second lost the whole season, the other against Fiorentina in the CL Qualifyer. Lost 2-0 away from home in the second leg, having won 3-1 at home. Out on away goals).

Made a couple of good signings, one highlight being Marco Borriello. Gutted that I sold Reveillere, but was lining up Toprak to replace him. Then I found out Toprak can't play till the end of 2009 lol. Still top of the league regardless of this 'mistake'.


For formations I float between two different ones.
For the slightly more cautious games, I play a slightly defensive 442 set up(4132) but some of the instructions are set to have the players push forward and attack quickly, using AMs in the wide areas to provide more attacking options when going forward.
My other formation I only just made recently, and still trying it out, more of an attacking set up 4231, with three high playing AMs sitting behind the main striker, providing plenty of support, but relying on solid DMs to cover the back line and spread the balls forward quickly(ignore the starting line ups, just the formations on the forthcoming screenies).

So far I'm reasonably pleased with this season, even in it's early stages. There is potential for slip ups and dissappointing results throughout, but overall I think I should have this title wrapped up in the end. My main focus is the Europa Cup, fans expect me to get to the final at least. Currently sitting top of my group after 4games, so fully expect to top this group and progress through the next two rounds hopefully.

Whos your striker(s), you don't seem to be that hot upfront

Lopez and Borriello are the main two, and stats wise are probably about the same as each other.
Gomis and Tafer are backup. Tafer I have hopes will become my main striker in a couple of years, gomis will stay as back up mainly, unless I find a better replacement.



Edit: just looked closer at Gomis, he's on 65k a week
he will be getting sold in January haha.

Will be keeping Lopez for sure, some good stats there compared to what he is in my game...a year before(judging by his age).

Jan is just coming up though, got £9million to spend, thinking either a great solid CB or a prolific striker. Any ideas lads?

LB may be a position I need to cover...just traded my LB for Van Der Vaart
