Sami Hyypia. A terrific CB that was underrated, a lot. Same with Jens Nowotny. Shame, his knees buggered him. I also liked Carsten Ramelow-a cracking DM who battled to the last minute.
Rooney, apart from the obvious fact he's a cracking player, he gets so much abuse for things I totally admire in a player - a willingness to get stuck in, speak his mind, have the craic in his time off etc. Nearly every time he's got stick from the media it's been stuff I've thought "fair fuckin play to ya".
The one the only Lionel Messi! My god that is some player!!!
i have to say i admire diego forlan.........he took so much stick at utd i think he made it entertaining to watch him at utd wondering when his first goal would ever come lol but anyway he moved away from utd and now look at him was banging the goals in for villarreal (think it was 50 odd) and the same with atletico madrid (think its like 60 odd ) for me he wasone of the top 3 players in the world cup
Riquelme, man's a wizard. Also Kluivert was a beast back in the day, scored for fun. Fat Ailton was hilarious to watch at Red Star, although he did have impressive record in Bundesliga.
Gerrard and Kuyt are class acts and I like their football, although I'm not really keen on Liverpool. There's few more...
Edgar Davids is the one i admire most. One of the most natural footballers i've seen with a ball.
Despite glaucoma he still fought on and was a key player for every team he played for.
Credit to football.
I hate saying the obvious, but Zidane was a bit special, I'll never forget his goal in the CL final at Hampden, t'was a thing of beauty.
Also, loved Van Basten, especially at the Euros in '88
Rui Costa was an elegant player in his time, especially at Fiorentina. I loved that whole team at the time. Batistuta was their main man of course.
Apart from the usual suspects like Messi, I'd say Edin Dzeko and Marcus Berg. Both amazing goalscorers in what is probably my favourite league.
Philipp Lahm also. I love the Bundesliga.
Good shout with Riquelme loved that guy/still do.
Ardda Turan and Alan Dzagoev and Danny are pretty fucking good aswell
Iniestaaaaaa !
