Scotland manager Craig Levein has announced his squad for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifying games against Lithuania & Lichtenstein.
The national team's goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart is thought to have had an eye on the performances put in by Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks for some time now, as the shot-stopper has been given a look in despite conceding six times against Arsenal recently.
In the meantime, defensive concerns have also led to the former Dundee United boss calling-up veteran R*ngers centre-half David Weir for the first two qualifying games.
The full squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Matt Gilks (Blackpool), David Marshall (Cardiff City), Allan McGregor ( R*ngers)
Defenders: Christophe Berra (Wolves), Alan Hutton (Tottenham Hotspur), Stephen McManus (Middlesbrough), Kevin McNaughton (Cardiff City), Lee Wallace (Heart of Midlothian), Andy Webster ( R*ngers), David Weir ( R*ngers), Steven Whittaker ( R*ngers)
Midfielders: Charlie Adam (Blackpool), Kirk Broadfoot ( R*ngers), Scott Brown (Celtic), Graham Dorrans (West Bromwich Albion), Darren Fletcher (Manchester United), Paul Hartley (Aberdeen), James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion), Steven Naismith ( R*ngers), Barry Robson (Middlesbrough)
Forwards: Kris Boyd (Middlesbrough), Steven Fletcher (Wolves), Chris Iwelumo (Burnley), Lee McCulloch ( R*ngers), James McFadden (Birmingham City), Kenny Miller ( R*ngers)
Fletcher, Hutton and McNaughton are currently doubtful for the game against Liechtenstein, but could become available if they should regain fitness.
Lee McCulloch still counts as a forward?
quite a lot of average players in there, if they do the business though, no complaints
Don't want Broadfoot in there - feckin' gash
Dunno about McCullough - he was good in the euro 08 campaign but think he's well past it and a dirty cunt to boot
Weir deserves a recall. Like him or not he's been solid for R*ngers and was great against Holland imo until his slip up. Don't know anything about the Blackpool keeper but he wont play so that's ok.
All in all we have enough to beat Liechtenstein and SHOULD have enough to beat Lithuania but they have made it tough for us in the past.
EDIT: Just noticed Hartley is back - good to see. he's a player I've always liked

Why the fuck is Webster there? He's not even getting a game for the huns.
Dunno about you guys, but I'm delighted that there's only 1 Celtic player in there. I usually hate not seeing a lot of our squad in the Scottish team, but I think this is a blessing in disguise. The chance of one of their players getting an injury must be pretty high.
In saying that. Can't believe Maloney or Forrest aren't there.
I thought he was brilliant for united last year and if the Huns ain't playing him they're making a mistake.
I would have expected Maloney to be in it but am not overly fussed tbh. Not done much for scotland.
And wouldn't have expected Forrest to be there - he's only played 4 games for us.
I'll expect him to be there in October if he keeps up his form for us
yeh where the fuck is maloney?
Glad we don't have many players in the squad.
Webster , BroadFoot Weir
embarrassing
ahahhahaah Davie Weir
Canny really have much complaints, we have fuck all to choose from. I mean do we stick wi the old heads or bring in young lads like James McArthur, Garry Kenneth, Mark Reynolds, Brian Easton, James Forrest, etc. Stick with those who've been there and done it before, glad to see Hartley back in the squad.
