Celtic’s Parkhead home could stage next year’s international friendly between the Republic of Ireland and Brazil, according to a Tuesday morning newspaper report.

The March game is expected to take place away from these shores, with uncertainty over the availability of Croke Park and the new Aviva Stadium not scheduled to open until May.

Manchester United’s Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium in London, home of Barclays Premier League giants Arsenal, had been mooted as potential venues.

But the Irish Independent reports that Celtic Park is now under strong consideration from the organisers.

The report also states that the decision on a venue will be taken by sports agency Kentaro and not the Football Association of Ireland.

What's the score with Trap lads?

Think he'll still be managing the team come March?

I know he has a contract, do you think he will honour it, or get the bullet, or what?

I hope he's still around come then, done great with us to get through the Quals undefeated and then take the Play-off right to the wire, until that happened. Trapps beens great for us, imo.

why should this game be played anywhere but Croker?
It's not the creed or nationality that counts, it's the man himself

Celtic - more than just a club

I'd be there with my Brazil top.

Would love for this to happen. I reckon it'll be the Emirates though, that's held quite a few international friendlies involving Brazil.

Aye it probably will LSF. I wonder if any huns would go though wearing the Blue Brazil top just to boo the Irish players

Parkhead should be Ireland's second home (well Third home)

Would much prefer them to play in Glasgow but will give London Irish to see the game

The FAI and the GAA cant agree on terms for this to be played in croker, something to do with clashing with the national league plus the new stadium should have been built by now!
