however , while there is a choice - and those people have the entitlement to declare for the republic - if and when they do then they will have the full backing as their civil rights justify.

not having a clue about what, exactly? ive not mentioned lennon yet. i completely understand the entitlement and it doesn't bother me either, as i mentioned earlier, the ifa constantly and consistently cock up regarding young players who are yet to earn a cap but most likely would in the future; they bring young players along on training camps and away trips and tell them they'll get a game but dont bother sending them out, so they're promised to be played by the republic team and do. what i do dispute is that the players who have went down south did so because of politics as ghod and his lapdog think. simple fact is, they didnt. they all played for NI at youth levels even though some of them had trials and were accepted at the FAI, and were willing to play for NI in the future if the IFA put the effort in, which it didnt. the IFA is to blame, not politics and not national identity.
im not particularly bothered by it personally, but id like players to stay with the association they spend their teenage years at simply because of the development of the player, the money spent on developing that player along with their club development and playing with the same team mates which ultimately benefits the team.
no one has mentioned civil liberties, rights of entitlement to citizenship thus entitlement to play for said team. they arent something i dispute.

Exactly. That is why I despise NI, what they did to Lenny was unforgivable. Some may have said that the elements of sectarianism were dissapearing from their support but that was totally blown out of the water after their disgraceful treatment of the Holy Goalie. Scummy hun bastards!
