Ireland seems to be leading now/recent times imo. Roy and Robbie Keane, Given. I can't think of any recent players from Scotland who are up on level with them..

Shows you how much a nation can change when you see what players Scotland HAD and what we are getting now.

Overall I’d say Scotland has produced better player. But then again, we (Ireland) are a nation divided by an illegal border.

Some of the Celtic players in the 60’s and 70’s were world class.

In recent times though, Ireland have produced the better player IMO.

Darren Fletcher is a poor mans Roy Keane.

Roy Keane was world class though. Fletcher wouldn't get near an all time Scotland great team where Keane would walk into the Irish one.

Fletcher will start getting classed as a Scotland great because he is playing well for Man United, even got into the PL Team of The Year! Ahead of Stevie G and Lampard.

Not that his club form should matter but it will.

To be fair best players don't make the best team, there's a lot of points where Ireland's had worse players than us but played better as a team and done well because of that.

lol too true RS, you could add norman whiteside to that list too i suppose.

overall though, i thin scotland have had far better players than us, we had a handful of good players pre 1990 whereas scotland had some of the games greats. we've had the upper hand sice but not by all that much.

    You’ve left out Danny McGrain.

Probably the best full back in the world at one stage.

Scotland have produced better player than Ireland by quite a distance imo.
