Default Man City Go For 3

Sky Sports News understands Manchester City are in talks with Real Madrid over the possible signings of Fernando Gago and Gonzalo Higuain.

City are looking to strengthen their squad over the summer after agonisingly missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification this season.

They have identified a number of transfer targets and appear keen to strike a deal with Real for Higuain and Gago.

Higuain has enjoyed a stunning campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu, although Argentina coach Diego Maradona recently claimed that Real had not contacted him about a contract renewal.

Compatriot Gago, who was linked with a move to City in January, also established himself as a key member of Manuel Pellegrini's team.

City would have to use all their financial muscle to prise the duo away from Spain but are understood to have entered negotiations with Real.

    ALSO

Edin Dzeko's representatives are in talks over the player possibly moving to Manchester City, Sky Sports News sources understand.

The Wolfsburg striker, who has been rumoured to be a target of several of Europe's biggest clubs, has been in prolific form for his club since joining from Czech side Teplice in 2007.

The 24-year-old was set to be new manager and former England boss Steve McClaren's prized possession if he could get hold of the classy target man, but it seems that City's huge amounts of financial resources could prise Dzeko away.

The Bosnian international's record of 54 goals in 94 games for his club appears to be enough to have persuaded City boss Roberto Mancini to part with the required funds to land the player, despite a wealth of striking options available to him.

If Dzeko is to make the move to Eastlands, it could spell the end of the line for some of his potential competition , with Roque Santa Cruz, Emmanuel Adebayor, Craig Bellamy and Robinho all rumoured to be heading towards the exit door.

Higuain Tevez and Dzeko up front next season :O would be amazing. Wish we could get bellamy even chance a loan deal :p

Ridiculous how a small club like them are being linked to players like that. I hope Higuain shows more class and either stays at Madrid or moves to a big club.

Man City are actually a massive club, they are just being borught to the attention of others now imo.

I hope they get Higuain and Dzeko, so they can pump United. Not bothered about Gago.

Just because United have been better for the most part of recent years doesn't make Man City a small club, they have a massive following, have won everything in England bar the newly formed Premiership and have a European trophy to their name!

Im not basing it on fans or anything. Just because they have a european trophy doesnt make them a big club - the huns have one of them as well. They are a small club with small club mentality - you only have to look at them tevez posters to see that

It was the European trophy + the other things, its a combination. You look at the crowds they are getting now, it shows how many fans they have - all be it, not good fans for just showing up now - but a lot none the less.

The Tevez poster was class, it was rubbing it into their biggest and nearest rivals.

they dont fill the ground mate. I work with a load of city fans, even they dont see it as a big club. And, they dont have that many fans - and next to none outside of manchester

They were third in average crowd sizes this season (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/a...=eng.1&cc=5739), although they do have a bigger stadium but they would need to fill it to get up there.

Was on Sky Sports news yesterday Real have laughed at them putting a bid in for Higuain and said he is not for sale under any circumstance.

It looks as if though Gago has got the green light to move.
