to me though revolver isnt as good a complete album as abbey road. the gulf between lennon and macca's songs are huge. macca was still doing his buddy holly impression while lennon was away on a tangent quoting the book of the dead and using backward guitar solos and loops.
I'm a bit biased towards Revolver because it has some of my favourite Beatles song's on it.
She Said She Said, Tomorrow Never Knows and Got To Get You Into My Life.
Abbey Road is class, just like Sgt. Pepper. Just stuck Sgt. Pepper on my Ipod, not listened to it for ages.
i like bits of sgt peppers... but again i think its quite patchy. some superb songs but again macca's are quite boring. you get taught how to play when i'm 64 at primary school. a day in the life is right up there with the best beatles songs though.
tomorrow never knows is my favourite, so ahead of its time when you consider who else was making music, the byrds, love etc all great bands but that was light years ahead of what anyone else was doing.
the drum loops too good to be ringo! must be mc cartney.
Funny this got brought up for me because in the last few days I've listened to 5 of their albums.
I've never been a fan of Abbey Road. Not enough good songs on it for me and some cringe-worthy moments too. Something steals the show.
If we could select the best say 15 from the White Album we wouldn't be having a discussion and I found myself being really disappointed with Rubber Soul after listening for the first time in ages today.
My choice is Revolver by a distance. Let It Be was the other one I stuck on my wee ipod yesterday.

pah!
no chance sir, macca's songs were all still stuck in his buddy holly wannabee days where as lennon was away on a tangent. ...your bird, tomorrow never knows and dr robert piss all over any macca efforts on revolver.
abbey road is an inspired album. they sounded like a band again rather than 4 individuals. and i still like rubber soul, it was a transitional album from their bubblegum pop days to real musicians but it has a lot of classic tunes.
i disregard anything dusty has said in this thread as he likes aerosmith![]()
