Although Bild is the German equivalent of the Sun, they have some quotes of him saying that there is interest from Celtic and that he himself is interested. And it would be a free transfer...

    I'd take this!

Hildebrand on a free, Pletikosa on loan... They two would battle it out for the #1 jersey, Zaluska would be understudy and loan Cervi out to another SPL team or English Championship/League One team.

Celtic have moved a step closer to replacing Artur Boruc by expressing an interest in German goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand. The 31-year-old keeper is available on a free transfer, having left Bundesliga club Hoffenheim at the end of last season.

Hildebrand, who spent 12 years with Stuttgart before an 18-month spell with Valencia, was Hoffenheim’s first choice keeper last campaign as they finished 11th in their second season in the German top flight.

The German international was allowed to walk away at the end of his contract with the ambitious side at the end of the season. But Hildebrand has not let up in his pursuit of a new club, training daily with Eintracht Frankfurt’s goalkeeping coach to be fit enough to play immediately.

Now, according to the player himself, Celtic appear to be front-runners for his signature and the seven-times capped Hildebrand says he is tempted by the prospect of becoming the Hoops’ eighth summer signing.

“The interest from Celtic is there,” Hildebrand told Bild. “It is very interesting for me.”

Hildebrand set a Bundesliga record in 2003/04 by going 884 minutes without conceding a goal, beating the previous best set by former Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn.

Well he's played nearly 350 senior games aswell as being capped wi Germany's U21's and senior squad. Haven't seen enough of him to pass judgement but he's good at coming for crosses from what I have seen. Chriz will probably know more about him than me?

would be a great signing imo. He's only 31 and still very fit... I've only seen him a few times, but if he's been good enough for Stuttgart for 8 years in the Bundesliga, he'll be good enough for the SPL. He's faced some tough competition in the national squad but still got 7 caps. He's also played together with Hinkel at Stuttgart before.

That's the way I was thinking about him aswell mate, Germany have had some class keepers for the past 20 yrs like Bodo Illgner, Andreas Kopke, Oliver Kahn, Jens Lehmann, Hans-Jorg Butt, Robert Enke (R.I.P.) and now they have another crop of superb GK's in Manuel Neuer and Rene Adler... For Hildebrand to get capped while Kahn, Lehmann and Butt were active speaks for itself.

    no-one remember him with Valencia?

he was shite and they got rid of him, it looked like his best days were past him

in saying that I don't know how well he done with Hoffenheim but surely if he done well they would have renewed his contract?

Neil Lennon says he has not spoken to German goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand regarding a potential move to Celtic.

Hildebrand is currently a free agent after leaving Hoffenheim and he has claimed there has been interest from the Bhoys.

Celtic boss Lennon is in the market for a new keeper after seeing Artur Boruc join Fiorentina and David James opt for a move to Bristol City.

However, Lennon has played down any suggestions that former Stuttgart keeper Hildebrand is on his way to Parkhead.

"There have been no talks as far as I'm concerned," said Lennon.

Croatia international Stipe Pletikosa has also been linked with the Bhoys and Lennon admits he is trying to bring in another shot-stopper.

He added: "We've only got one sort of consistent goalkeeper in (Lukasz) Zaluska and we need to get another one in.

"We lost a superb goalkeeper in Boruc so it's imperative that we replace him, and the quicker the better."

that would be a great boost for zaluska to read that huh?

Sure Zaluska is aware that he needs competition.

Also we appear to be kidding ourselves on with Cervi. He's 23 and he's not showing any signs of breaking through.

Or better yet, we could have I dunno? Not fucking sold him maybe?

Seems like Lennon has been reading the big book of "Mowbray Media Mishaps vol 1".

I really worry when he speaks to the media. We're gonna need to hire some kind of PR to do it because he is terrible at it, and we saw how much that effected Mowbrays reign here.

he knew he only had one year left on his contract so instead of going on a free next year he went when money was offered to him

It was blatantly obvious that Big Artur both wanted and needed to go, and he certainly earned the right to have us respect his decision. It would be selfish and downright disrespectful of us to keep him here when he had to go elsewhere for the sake of his career and his mental well-being, so i say we all drop the bullshit about the board or Lennon making a cunt of it in letting him go.
