http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottis...sh-goalkeeper/Celtic are scouting Real Valladolid player Jacobo Sanz as they seek to add another goalkeeper to the squad at Parkhead. The Spanish keeper is currently on tour with his club in Scotland and will be watched by Celtic scouts before he gets a chance to impress in a closed door game against Neil Lennon’s team.
STV Sport understands Celtic are keen to take a closer look at the stopper, who has La Liga experience but is not currently considered as number one at his club. The player has one year left on his contract and it thought his employers would be keen to cash in if a suitable offer is forthcoming.
While a Spanish source says a deal between Jacobo and Celtic is close, it is believed a formal bid may yet be some way away. Nevertheless, Celtic will have the player watched during his time in Scotland and he could yet be given the opportunity to rival Lukasz Zaluska for the starting spot at Celtic.
Segunda Division side Valladolid are scheduled to face Inverness, Kilmarnock and St Johnstone within the next five days, before taking on Neil Lennon’s team next Tuesday.
The goalkeeper is expected to feature at some point in Valladolid’s fixture with Inverness, with first choice Justo Villar rested to give more game time to Jacobo, who has played just 30 minutes in their two friendlies so far.
Valladolid are currently based in Dunblane and have been making use of Stirling Albion’s Forthbank ground and the facilities at Stirling University for training. It is expected the goalkeeper will continue to play in games for his current side, while training under the watchful eye of Celtic boss Neil Lennon at Lennoxtown.
Jacobo, 27, had attracted interest from La Liga side Real Zaragoza during the summer, before the Blanquillos snapped up former Atletico Madrid and Real Mallorca keeper Leo Franco.
Having started his career with CF Palencia in 2003, he moved to Real Jaen for season before signing for Valladolid. But, after playing just 10 games in two seasons, he was sold to CD Numancia in 2007 with a buy-back option.
A year later, Valladolid exercised that clause and brought him back to the Estadio Jose Zorrilla. Shortly after signing a three-year contract, top flight team Getafe took him on loan following injuries to Roberto Abbondanzieri and Oscar Ustari for the 2008/09 season.
Jacobo played 17 games with Getafe, who stayed in the division on the final day by virtue of being one goal better off than Real Betis, who finished on 42 points but with a goal difference of minus seven.
He was then part of the Valladolid team which failed to escape the drop from the top division on the final day last season, going down by finishing two points from safety. Jacobo played 15 of his team’s 38 league games, in which they conceded 62 goals.
Cool. I'll reserve judgement obviously.
Sounds shite.
Segunda Division to SPL?
Well Marco and Flavio (the Jedward look-a-likes) made the step up from the Segunda to the SPL with Hamilton last season but not ideal for a club our size imo. Need a bigger name, one such as Pletikosa or Hildebrand, not Jacobo "who?" Sanz.
ffs fuck you scouts

Timmo would be a great shout in my eyes. Good keeper, proved himself, and on a free. Would take the gloves off of Zaluska easily. Allowing us not to worry about this problem next season(as a loan will do with Pletikosa). and allows any money left/made to be spent on a striker and a centre back.
Tamas went for a free earlier this summer...how the fuck? linked with us two years ago, decent enough.
One of the At Madrid boys went as well...name escapes me right now...will come back to this...haha
we miss soo many obvious choices, and seemingly dont make ANY attempt for them.
Lennon is talking about getting an experienced keeper, Hildebrand fits the bill perfectly!! What's the problem fss i don't get it?![]()
Pablo Ibanez, went to fucking West Brom. Not saying the guy is on a par with Poyul or something, but he is better class than West Brom, would do a turn for us, and went for a free.
thats two centre backs, away for free's this season. One we were heavily linked with two years ago (why we let that one run away without noticing i dont know) Tamas. The other I'd like to have thought our scouts could have picked up on the fact that movement was happening with Ibanez.
Tal Ben-Haim's a free agent still although it looks like he's going to Avram Grant's West Ham, talks have been held up due to him not being able to agree terms though, heard today Ben-Haim is sueing a reporter who said he'd failed a medical at Upton Park lol.

Don't know much about either. But still good to know that Lenny is looking to fill a new striker and keeper. Those two CB's and on our way.Celtic want to have a look at Real Valladolid keeper Jacobo and Nigerian striker Manasseh Ishiaku on trial.
The Bhoys are keen to provide competition for No.1 Lukasz Zaluska following Artur Boruc's summer exit to Fiorentina.
Valladolid shot-stopper Jacobo, full name Jacobo Sanz Ovejero, has a year left on his contract with the relegated Spanish outfit.
Manager Neil Lennon wants Jacobo on a five-day trial and he is expected to train with the Parkhead squad next week.
Valladolid president Carlos Suarez has confirmed talks for Jacobo, who could cost £600,000, are at an advanced stage.
"Talks with Celtic are at an advanced stage," he told the Daily Record. "If all the conditions are favourable for all parties I don't see a problem with the sale."
Meanwhile, Celtic, according to reports in Germany, have invited Nigerian hit-man Ishiaku for a spell with the SPL club.
The 27-year-old has been told he is no longer required at Cologne and is free to find himself a new side.
Ishiaku still has two more years on his contract with the Bundesliga outfit, but has scored just one goal in 28 league outings.
Not much is known, so maybe a risk? Although in FM their stats look not to bad...![]()
1 goal in 28 games does not look too impressive.
There was a thread made on the keeper a few days ago - doesn't exactly inspire confidence from what i've read of him.
As for ishiaku his goals to games ratio leaves a lot to be desired according to wiki
Years Team Apps† (Gls)†

Sounds like we should give these two a miss
the keeper Timmo would still be my preffered option...free to.
Sounds like this spells out FAIL.
il commend lenny on looking past the epl and championship for players its a step in the right direction but maybe we should bypass these two and get two players with a better outlook
