Sky Sports | Football | News | Chase on for ThompsonA host of Premier League and Championship clubs are chasing Celtic's Josh Thompson, skysports.com understands.
Bhoys chief Neil Lennon is ready to allow the 19-year-old to return to South of the border on loan.
Thompson joined Celtic last summer from Stockport and he made 18 appearances for the club.
But he could be on the move with a host of clubs ready to make offers to the Scottish giants.
Thompson's agent Peter Morrison of James Grant Sports, has confirmed to skysports.com that there is interest in the young defender.
"Both Celtic and I have had a number of enquiries with regards to Josh," Morrison told skysports.com.
Thompson, who began his career with Stockport, is also an England youth international.
lol, why?
God knows. Haven't seen anything to suggest he's anything special
Probably plyed well for Ingurlandat that tourny
He did well for englands under 19's I think
because them clubs rate him obviously
I think a lot of people up here were too harsh on him last season. He basically took a lot of the flack that should have been aimed at TM. He did lack a yard of pace but that can be fixed.
I don't think we should sell, he's still a young lad and given some time with a mentor like Mjallby or even the big Swede (white Bobo) he could become a great player.
Agree with this and would also say that for his age, inexperience and playing in front of 50k fans every other week - some of which were booing him - I think he done himself proud and played pretty well for us when he was asked.
I'd loan him out to a championship team for a season and let him gain a bit of confidence cos i think he'll be a cracking defender in a couple of yeaars
Thompson is fucking shite
Get rid ASAP
Would personally keep him.
Shows certain qualities that are needed in a good defender. His inexperience and age shone through a lot, but then he was also taking a lot of the heat in defence las season.
He has potential, would hate to see him leave and actually become a decent CB when we are struggling to find some, and the ones we are scouting are in their later days. This is a guy we should be lookin to play alongside experience, and bring through.
Josh Thompson is a fantastic prospect, who done very well mostly, the problem was he had no experienced good defenders around him for guidance and mowbray should be ashamed for putting the boy in that position.. Celtic would be daft to let that boy go..
A lot of people forget he's only just 19 ffs. He should be given a few years to develop. We've nothing to lose on trying to develop him.
All he lacks is some pace, I thought his positional sense was spot on, and considering the bombscare of a manager and the diddy's he had to play alongside, I thought he done no bad, certainly one to develop for a couple more years and see where it ends up.
I like him, never seen what seems to anger so many fans.

I'd happily see him leave on loan for a season, but I reckon we should be looking to keep him. He dont not bad considering he was an 18 year old boy who probably wasnt expecting a sniff at the 1st team last season.
One for the future I think, cant get any worse anyway

Gone to Rochdale on loan.
Central defender Josh Thompson has become the latest player to leave Celtic after joining Rochdale on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old was signed for Celtic by Tony Mowbray from Stockport County a year ago but has fallen out of favour with new manager Neil Lennon.
And the Glasgow club's boss said: "Josh is on his way to England."
Striker Morten Rasmussen joined Mainz on Thursday and will spend a season in the German Bundesliga.
Defenders Paul Caddis and Darren O'Dea have been farmed out to Swindon and Ipswich, while the versatile Graham Carey has joined Huddersfield and striker Ben Hutchinson has been borrowed by Lincoln.
But Lennon insisted that the moves did not necessarily mean the end to the players' careers with the Scottish Premier League club.
"The whole reason we've let these guys on the periphery of the squad away is because they need to go and play football," said the manager.
"But they're still our players at the end of the day."
Thompson has made 21 first-team appearances for Celtic but has not played since the Champions League qualifying exit at the hands of Braga.
Rochdale, who have started the season with two draws in League One, earlier this month re-signed one their former central defenders, Alan Goodall, on a short-term contract after his release by Chesterfield.
