Palermo have shown an interest in raiding both R*ngers and Celtic to improve their strikeforce. The Italian Serie A club have been linked with moves for both Kris Boyd and Georgios Samaras...
http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottis...ltic-strikers/"Palermo for Samaras? He has played for many clubs but he certainly is a good player," Sabatani was attributed as saying to TMR.
Samaras moved to Celtic from Manchester City, initially on loan in January 2008. The move was made permanent that summer, with a fee of £1.5 million paid for his services. The Greek international, 25, has since played 88 times for the Hoops, scoring 30 times.
His former Celtic team-mate Massimo Donati, who now plays for Palermo’s league rivals Bari, has talked up his credentials and believes he would be an ideal replacement should Cavani depart in the summer.
“He is an unusual striker - tall, fast and technical,” Donati told Palermo24.net. “He is very like Cavani, only bigger.”
Well said Donati. He is an unusual striker

I actually think he'd do alright in Italy.
Off topic here but hows Donati doing back in Italy?
He certainly wouldn't be missed here.
It would be a masterstroke from Lawell if he could get any money for that idiot. His goals to game ratio doesn't read that bad, so hopefully this happens and some gullible fool takes him.
“If he wants to learn about scoring goals, he should nip over to watch us train at Lennoxtown some afternoon and I'll show him a thing or two about finishing”
Would be absolutely delighted to see the back of him. He doesn't even deserve another season with us.

Seems like they are genuinely interested.
Serie A side Palermo are weighing up a £2million move for Georgios Samaras.
The Greek inter*nationalist is understood to be considered surplus to requirements at Celtic.
However, it seems Samaras, who will represent Greece at next month’s World Cup Finals in South Africa, has his admirers elsewhere.
The 25-year-old has two years to run on his current contract, but that has not put off the cash-rich Sicilian side, who are on course to finish fifth in Italy.
Walter Sabatini, Palermo’s sporting director, travelled to Scotland earlier this week to take a closer look at Samaras and also run the rule over Kris Boyd.
Sabatini admitted his admiration for the Celtic striker, saying: “Samaras is a strong player who, in recent years, has improved a lot by playing in different football environments. In some way, he has been a football nomad, but he certainly has a lot of qualities.”
Former Celt Massimo Donati has also given his former team-mate a glowing endorsement. The Bari midfielder said: “He has a good head on his shoulders and he’s not a greedy player.
“In front of goal, Georgios also does well, but probably not as well as he should for the natural ability he possesses.
“How do I think he’d do in Serie A? I think he would be fine because of the qualities he has.”
