We've been linked with him before and apparently he's flying to Glasgow for a medical tomorrow:
He's a right-back and played for SC Freiburg and other German clubs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cha_Du-Rihttp://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/b...zu-Celtic.html
gotta love his wiki:
"Cha's nickname in Germany is "Autobahn" because of his fleet footedness and because he never stops running. Cha's nickname in Korea is "Chaminator", "Robot" and "Robocop" (두리 로봇설), following the netizen created rumour that Cha's father mechanically engineered his prodigal footballing son. Koreans consider him to be very handsome and honourable."![]()

the right back? why would we want him when we have Hinkel, Wilson and Caddis unless he can play left-back?

Hinkel could be on his way out...Celtic close to signing South Korea's World Cup right-back Cha Doo-ri
Celtic are close to agreeing a deal to sign the South Korea right-back Cha Doo-ri. The 29-year-old, who has been playing for his country at the World Cup, said today: "Tomorrow I fly to Glasgow to undergo the medical check. Then I will have two weeks of vacation in South Korea."
Celtic sources have confirmed their pursuit of Cha, who left the German club Freiburg under freedom of contract at the end of last season. His other former clubs include Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt. The fact that he was born in Germany should eliminate problems for Celtic in obtaining a work permit. Cha's father, Cha Bum-kun, is South Korea's most famous football player of all time.
Fuck sake out of all the players we could punt, the first one out the door is the most consistent out the lot. Fucking diabolical if Hinkel is allowed to leave,
'IF YOU GET TIRED, OF JUST HANGIN AROUND
PICK UP A GUITAR, AND SPIN A WEB OF SOUND'
Last year of his contract so it could be true that he's on his way out .
Looked really good at the World Cup I thought.
Hopefully this guy can play LB because I love Hinkel.
Hope this doesn't mean Hinkel is leaving. He's probably the best player right now.

This guy was responsible for a bad goal. I remember him standing and ball watching as a guy ran from behind him to pick up the ball and score. Hopefully that isn't what he's about.
I watch AFC football a lot and he's unanimous to me. I knew who Ki, Koki, and Zheng were... take it for what it's worth.
... some people are sure having a lot of fun editing his profile though, lol.
About an hour ago it said Celtic. Now it says Rngrs

This guy is fucking great, although I will be sad to see Hinkel go, if that is the case. Cha seemed to overlap one hell of a lot and was playing almost as a winger a few times.
Has been brilliant at the world cup!
★
Dosent look good for andreas now, Hopefully this guy is a good player but havent seen much to comment, Thought Hinkel excellant though and discusted he's leaving, Sign of things to come, Mulgrew-Free,Cha Du Ri-Free,Sol Campbell-Free,Ledley-Free. Scraping the bargain basement again while major surgery required, This board never fails to amaze me
mulgrew - good player will do ajob.
cha du ri - decent and should do a job
sol campbell - great player imo , just what we need
ledley - would take us to the next level
allthese players are on free's but will do a job , i would rather spend no money on these 4 than spend say 5-6 million on 4 unknowns
Been huffing enough glue there? Ledley is a fine prospect and already a good player but he isn't world class. I think you're mixing him up with Aaron Ramsey.
Now I really dislike the way it seems we're going. Although I really hope it's so we can spend more on other players while still rebuilding the squad, however unlikely that may be.
I'm sure I read somewhere today he can play LB or RB. Aye he has a bit of pace but it worries me he played in a team that finished 14th in the Bundesliga last season.
I'd rather sign Nagatomo... he'd solve our LB problems =/

Read today that Roma are in for him.

Funny that he'd be replacing Riise.
Been banging on about him forever though.
They should sign me as a scout for Japan![]()

is it a done deal?HE'S known as Autobahn in Germany because he's so slick and speedy.
Back in South Korea, they call him Robocop after jokes that he was mechanically-engineered to play like his legendary father.
Now Cha Du-Ri wants to win a place in the hearts of Celtic fans and carve a new reputation in the SPL.
The German-born South Korea defender - son of Asian Player of the Century Cha Bum-Kun - is poised to sign for the Hoops.
He's due in Glasgow this week after starring at the World Cup alongside Ki Sung-Yueng.
And Cha admits he can't wait for his Old F**m debut.
He said: "I'm excited about playing for Celtic and living in Glasgow. Celtic are a big club and have a good chance of winning trophies.
"And I really want to play in a Glasgow derby. Even in Germany, people talk about the Old F**m game so to actually play in one would be amazing.
"Also, this gives me the opportunity to play in European competitions, which is very exciting.
"I've been taking English lessons and want to live in an English-speaking country. I also considered an offer from the USA."
Du-Ri, 29, has been targeted by Neil Lennon after an impressive showing in South Africa.
The explosive right-back helped South Korea to the last 16 eights years after helping them reach the semis as co-hosts.
He grew so close to then coach Guus Hiddink in 2002 that he learned Dutch from him.
Learning English - his FOURTH language - will let him communicate with his new team-mates.
Cha was born in Frankfurt where his father - dubbed Cha Boom - carved a reputation as his country's greatest-ever export, winning the UEFA Cup with Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen in a stellar career.
He briefly held the title of top-scoring foreigner in Bundesliga history, and is still in the top five.

And Cha, who quit as boss of Suwon Bluewings earlier this month, is thrilled his son's bound for Celts.
He said: "He has been studying English. He wants to play in an English-speaking country."
Although a right-back, Du-Ri has been likened to his father because of his pace and the power of his shooting.
He has won over 50 caps and starred for Leverkusen, Arminia Bielefeld, Eintracht, Koblenz and Mainz, where he was converted from striker to right-back.
Du-Ri's arrival on a free after his Frieburg contract expired, could see high-earning Andreas Hinkel sold back to the Bundesliga to boost Lennon's transfer warchest.
Paul Caddis looks set for a loan switch to Swindon with Mark Wilson providing back-up for Du-Ri.
Lennon and Hoops chief executive Peter Lawwell have stepped up the squad refurb after returning from holiday.
Out-of-contract Aberdeen left-back Charlie Mulgrew is close to sealing a Parkhead return.
Sol Campbell's tour of Celtic Park and Lennoxtown confirmed his readiness to head north.
And Hoops remain locked in talks with Hull over season-long loan deal for Jimmy Bullard.
Republic of Ireland caps Daryl Murphy and Liam Lawrence also remain on Lennon's radar.
Meanwhile, Hoops reserve defender Jason Marr has joioned Falkirk on a six-month loan.
sounds like it by the way he says "I'm excited about playing for Celtic"
