Dutch midfielder George Boateng is training with Celtic with a view to signing for Neil Lennon's team.
The 34-year-old's contract with Hull City expired at the end of last season and he is available on a free transfer.
The former Netherlands international made his name at Feyenoord in the 1990s then joined Gordon Strachan's Coventry.
The defensive midfielder moved to Aston Villa in 1999 for £4.5m, making 134 appearances, before signing in 2002 for Middlesbrough for £5m.
With Steve McLaren as manager, Boateng played in the Uefa Cup final in his home country when Boro were beaten 4-0 by Sevilla in Eindhoven.
Ghana-born Boateng spent the last two seasons at Hull's KC Stadium but left the club after they were relegated from the Premier League in May.
His arrival at the Scottish Premier League side's Lennoxtown training ground follows Sol Campbell's, another sign that the new manager is keen to add experience to the ranks as Celtic try to prise the Scottish Premier League title from R*ngers.
Lennon has released midfielders Zheng Zhi and Koki Mizuno, but has added defenders Charlie Mulgrew and Cha Du-Ri as he seeks to rebuild the squad.

very meh to me especially at 34.
Very meh indeed ,too old and he had his chance .No Thanks
Maybe Lennon just wants him around to him, Thommo etc feel a bit younger...
Atleast hes not signing then as we never seem to sign anybody who has a trial.
He was good about 5 years ago. Too old and shit now.
he knocked us back to go to hull last year so fuck him...![]()
You never know, he may be good up here. We need some experience in Midfield.
Read in the Record this morning that aswell as Boateng, Celtic have Pablo Barrera, Ibrahima Camara and Stefan Stjepanovic training and Joe Ledley was back for contract talks again. If our summer signings were Charlie Mulgrew, Cha Du-Ri, Sol Campbell, Jimmy Bullard aswell as Ledley, Boateng, Barrera, Camara and Stjepanovic I'd be well chuffed. Good depth in squad.
Doubtful though?
I think Boateng would be the last of the players i would be looking at in that list tbh
Decent player, would be happy with that.
I think Lennys reasoning behind this is his trying to get leaders in the squad like him and Sol Campbell
Would be a good move, we were sadly lacking experience and leadership last season, Boateng has both.
He's free so I don't see any problems with it really, his experience will be handy to have around the place if he signs.
Didn't think we'd be able to get Barrera on trial actually. Pretty interesting if true.
oh yea lets get players who refused us first time because they thought they were better than the club but bring them back when no one else wants them
seems to me celtic arent rebuilding the team there just bring players in to put a plaster of the cracks and its going to back fire on them
