Would you take a chance on him?
People have described him as a Heskey type player, big and strong but he has got alot of pace for a big man and he is only 20 years old. Just think a battering ram with speed.
And although his didn't score, he was quite immpressive at the World Cup (for what it's worth)
He'll still cost a few million to sign up.
Wages etc etc we can deal with, but it would take a few million to sign, and I don't see our board doing that for a 20year old.
He'll move elsewhere in Europe.
Don't know much about him, but I've heard he's not much good. I'd rather a proven striker, that could be the difference between winning the league and the huns getting 3IAR.
He would be perfect for the Scottish game. Big, strong, fast and doesn't take shit from people. Not exactly a clinical finisher though. If we could get him for a decent price, it would be worth it.
We won't get him, he impressed alot of people in the WC and with Hull.
He's been a bit of a disappointment since leaving the MLS, but to be fair I don't think he got a fair shake at Villareal --- just six games before getting loaned out. And he did play on a rather piss poor Hull squad. Their top goalscore score 6 times!
Having said that, the potential is there. He's got the pace, work rate and a physical style of play that would cause all sorts of problems for defenders in the SPL.
He's okay, but Hull had first refusal for 6m so thats what they want for him, I dont think he scores enough to justify that money, basically hes very similar to Fortune, imo I would rather have a poacher to play in SPL games and score 20+ goals against league opposition.
From what I've seen of him he reminds me of Kenny Miller, does a lot of running and sets them up but can't bang in the goals. The American striker I'd rather have is Edson Buddle. Seen him a few times and he's looked impressive. Also has a decent record although he's never played outside the U.S. so would be a risk?
Buddle is atrocious. MLS is his level, would much rather have Altidore.
He's a pretty good forward and will get better over the next few years. Far too similar to big Marco though to think of bringing to Celtic just now. Nah.
Exactly.
I just hope we are still buying for the future, and not youngsters for in 5 years, but players who can still be here and be good for us in 2 years when needed at the European level. All fine buying to get the title back, but we need to add more than we have....even if its next season we do it. Just so long as the board can fucking see this AT LEAST.
