WILLIAM Gallas will hold talks this week about a move to Celtic.
Senior sources at Celtic Park last night confirmed that the former Chelsea defender, whose contract with Arsenal ran out at the end of the season, has been in touch with them.
However, the 32 year-old’s representatives have also been in contact with a handful of other clubs across Europe, including Juventus, Malaga and Panathinaikos.
The Greek club thought they were leading the race to sign Gallas, but negotiations broke down with officials at Panathinaikos claiming it was difficult to reach an agreement because of the player’s wage demands.
The Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said he expects Gallas, who was earning £80,000 a week at the club, to move on.
Gallas’ defensive partner at the Emirates, Sol Campbell, is also out of contract, and has already been offered a two year-deal by Celtic.
Meanwhile, the Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins admitted last night that he is all but resigned to losing Gary Hooper to Celtic. The 22 year-old is out of contract next summer, and Adkins is wary of losing the £2.4million-rated striker without a fee.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon said he was very hopeful of having both Hooper and Maccabi Haifi’s Birim Kayal signed this week, although only Hooper appears to have a realistic chance of featuring in Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Braga.
David James, another free agent, is also ready to meet with the Parkhead manager tomorrow to discuss a move. On the England No 1, Lennon said: “He is coming up on Monday to have talks and to take a look at the place. We will take it from there.”
One of the few papers I had an gram of respect left for. Shame.
He's been in touch with us? Well if that's the case he'll obviously be willing to take a pay cut. I'd say he's worth 30-35k a week but i doubt he'd take that when there are others who could prob double that figure.Senior sources at Celtic Park last night confirmed that the former Chelsea defender, whose contract with Arsenal ran out at the end of the season, has been in touch with them.
He'd be a cracking signing.
He has had a record of causing unrest in the dressing as far as I can remember, we don't need that right now
this will never happen, if we can't even get cambpell, this is a whole new world of bullshit.
Wouldn't mind Gallas on the back of my hoops to be honest.
i would wet myself if this happened. rate him very highly
how can anyone not want Gallas to sign?
don't want him here would rather stick o'dea at CB because he might upset the dressing room and while we're at it just hand the huns the title again because of shit defending, but as long as the players are happy
"Football without the fans is nothing"
"Celtic Football Club is the fans, without them there is no club."

Gallas would be a quality signing but for the same reason Panathinikos aren't getting him should be a problem for us aswell.
Would be a great signing imo
Gallas and Campbell at the back.
How fucking good would that be?
*sinks back down to reality*
Loovens and O’Dea
*shudders*
Fuck him. A whining twat of the highest order.
Aye we'll see if he comes .
I fucking hate Gallas with a passion. He's the epitome of what is wrong with football:
threatened to score an own goal for Chelsea, if they didn't let him move to Arsenal
Sat in the middle of the pitch, like a big fucking bairn, when his team didn't win
Would ask for millions, despite being 32
I can't underline how much I hate this man. My heart sunk when I saw this headline. Fortunately, it's him flashing his knickers at Celtic and hoping we'll bite. He's seen there's plenty of moving and shaking going on, heard a rattle of money in pockets and thinks this is an opportunity to get a share. He has no love for the game, but rather the riches it might bring him. He's the archetypal modern "professional" and I doubt he'd bring anything other than unrest and greed to Parkhead. Fuck him right in the eye. I hope he breaks his fucking ankle in the gym and never soils another football pitch again. Twat.
